Spaghetti Bolognaise

What on earth has spaghetti bolognaise got to do with sales?

Well, actually it's a framework for sales!

We need a framework for effective and stress free selling.

A sales framework is a set of actions, executed in a certain order, which provides a basic structure for selling.  It’s the skeleton of a great sales call.

If we approach our sales without a structure or framework then, it’s going to be a struggle to get positive and repeatable results.

So here's where the spaghetti bolognaise comes in!

It's is an example of a framework we probably use quite frequently:

There are many different recipes for this dish and you will probably have a favourite.

No matter what recipe we use, it has a list of ingredients and a method of cooking.
Now, we just might add more pepper or oregano or leave out the garlic or have less sauce but essentially we follow a framework (recipe) to achieve a positive outcome (delicious meal)

Spag Bol. needs pasta and a sauce.  Usually we combine all the sauce ingredients, cook them until they are done and then add this bolognaise sauce to some cooked spaghetti (the basic framework)

There are many different recipes for Spag Bol, but to make it, they all follow a route, gathering the ingredients, assembling the elements and cooking the dish until it is ready to eat.

Now imagine you are on Ready, Steady, Cook (showing my age now)

You have a bunch of random ingredients in front of you. No idea of what you can make and absolutely no recipe in sight! Add in the time factor and suddenly it becomes a very stressful situation!
Surely it would be so much better if the ingredients in front of you made sense because there was a picture of the finished dish, a method of how to cook the ingredients and some timings and temperatures? You bet it would!

This is how all your sales calls should be. 
A set number of things to do in a certain order.

Think about how many times you’ve made a great spaghetti bolognaise, think about how you whizz through the process and how easy it is after you’ve made it a few times. 
It’s so easy to tweak the recipe for different tastes ( the vegetarian teenager, the spice loving cousin, the cheese hating toddler).


Well, you get the picture. 


A clear framework to follow, confidence from using that framework leading to flexibility and great results without the stress.

Using a sales framework means you don’t lose your way through a call. 
It means you won’t forget anything and it means your potential customer will feel
safe and confident in you and your offer.

It also means it becomes a more natural discussion, less salesy.  It becomes a conversation which has a purpose, doesn’t get too far off track and offers the right solution.

In fact it becomes your best recipe for a great sales call.

Practice at using this type of framework will mean you will get better at selling and it will be more natural.  You will get more sales without getting so stressed.
